Just some pictures of our post-Christmas hang out time. I will write a little something about each picture so you know what is going on.

Maggie got a princess tent from her Aunt Kerri. She and Ellie love playing it in. I walked in on her like this (even though the tent isn't upright, it still served its purpose!), very comfy!

Her other aunt, Kim, bought her a bunch of dress up clothes for Christmas. By far her favorite one is the ice-skating get up. Of course I don't mind since I figure skated for most of my childhood. She was such a ham with her flowers, skates and gold medal!

Yes, I kindly accept this medal and flowers...thank you.

Dave's grandmother, Memmie, gave Ellie one of those Hallmark recordable books. Ellie LOVES it. She can't figure out how there is a voice coming out of the book every time she turns a page.

Christmas

For Christmas this year we headed to Memphis to be with Dave's family. It had been three years since had been there for this holiday! Two years ago we were with my family in Texas, and last year we were at home since my due date with Ellie was January 4th. Well, as most of you know, Ellie showed up Christmas day last year! What a great gift! This year fell at the perfect time since all of his siblings were going to be in town for the 25th. We flew in on the 24th and went to the family service at 4:30. It was a good thing it was casual because we literally got off of the plane, dropped off our luggage at the house, and went to church. Sandy, Dave's dad, didn't have to preach at that service, so he got to sit with his grand babies take Drewsie and Maggie up front for the children's message. Some people went to the 11 o'clock service, but I couldn't make it past about 9:30 that night.

Christmas day was wonderful. We got up and just hung around until church at 11. We took the girls to the nursery (I think there were only 7 kids total!) and enjoyed the worship service. We came home and had a delicious lunch, put the kids to bed, and while they slept the adults opened up their gifts. Since Dave's family is so large, the siblings all drew names, so we each bought for only one other sibling. It worked out really well and was fun coming up with a special gift for whoever you picked. Maggie, of course, didn't take a nap, but we gave her a bunch of books and toys to play with in her bed. About 3/4 of the way through with our gifts, we hear little footsteps and then I see Maggie peeking around the corner. I think she knew something exciting was going on and the poor thing had been sitting in bed for probably 2 hours. She was quiet though, but I think had had enough when she came downstairs.

After the other kids woke up, we opened up Christmas gifts and Ellie's birthday gifts. All of the gifts were so special and thoughtful. I have wonderful in-laws! There was no method to the madness and we ditched taking turns opening gifts and just started ripping wrapping paper and shouting out "thank-yous" to the gift givers. It was so sweet because all of the kids were playing with each other's toys and nobody had any breakdowns, or even seemed to care really.

After gifts, the girls got dressed up in birthday outfits that Dave's mom had bought for Ellie's birthday party. While they twirled around and played, we got dinner and the cake ready. The girls ate dinner and then we sang happy Birthday to our Christmas baby and everyone dug into the red velvet and vanilla ice cream cake. Yum!!!

The rest of the trip was a blur. In a good way. My sister-in-law, Kerri, and I ran almost every day (until I sprained my ankle - awesome) and Kerri, Kim, and I had good sister-in-law (sisters married into the Willson family) time shopping, getting our nails done, and seeing the movie My Week with Marilyn (I highly recommend it). Allison, Dave's mom, ended up driving the girls and me back to Greenville because of my ankle. It was a whirlwind of a holiday, but we are so grateful we were able to spend it with family and wonderful fellowship. Until next year...MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Nope, not Olivia, Ethan, Drewsie or Sanders! I am talking about MY cousin, Danny...I mean Dr. Daniel Laing, professor of music at Hasting College in Nebraska. Last time I saw him and his kids was last year right before I delivered Ellie. His wife's family is from Greenville, so any every time they have come for Christmas, we have been able to see him. We tend to just miss each other at the Jersey shore during the summers, so this is a nice way to get caught up with them. We had a blast with their two kids Parker (almost 4) and Emma (almost 2).

What is better than opening presents on Christmas day? Opening some BEFORE too!!! We headed to Memphis for Christmas, so a few days before our trip, we opened the gifts that were sent to our house - mainly from my family and our gifts to the girls. It made the few days leading up to our trip go by a little faster since we had some new toys to play with. I will explain more under each picture. I didn't take pictures of the gifts from my brother, Bill and his wife, April, but they got Ellie a dog that sings and dances while teaching ABCs and 123s and Maggie got an adorable outfit with Tinkerbell appliqued on the shirt and matching pants and a Tinkerbell music box that plays "Think of a wonderful thought" from Peter Pan. Love everything! So thoughtful!

Maggie and Ellie's big gift from us was an easel that has a dry erase board and a chalk board. The dry erase side is also used for the painting capabilities. Big hit!

Ellie received the Fisher Price Little People barn from my parents for Christmas - she LOVES it (and so does Maggie!)!

Just thought her hair was funny. I think she ate bananas and then ran her fingers through her hair...this is a daily occurrence.

This past weekend, my brother's family stopped by our house on their way from Maryland to Texas. They are in the process of moving to Omaha, NE and are spending the holiday season with my parents in Houston. We had not seen them and their two kids since July when we were at the Jersey shore, so it was great to catch up with them and let the kids take a break from the car ride. I didn't get a lot of shots of the kids because we were so busy visiting, but I managed to get a few before they headed out for Atlanta.

Golf Course Fun

I cannot believe that the weather has been so mild! Instead of being able to see my breath and having to defrost my car, we are getting rain and 100% humidity! The one good thing about warmer weather is being able to go outside and not have to bundle up. We have two golf course holes behind our house, so we take advantage of that as much as we can. The girls get to run around like free-range chickens and I don't have to worry about busy streets (although we don't get very good golfers on the course, so we have to watch out for the occasional slice). I took great video of Maggie running through the leaves and Ellie walking (at 11 months, to the day!). Will post those later.

Aunt Kerri's Visit

A couple of weekends ago my sister-in-law, Kerri, came to visit for a long weekend. Her husband, Ben (Dave's brother), is in his first year of law school, so she was giving him time to study for finals by heading down to our place. Dave had an away game that weekend, so it was just the girls! We had a blast going to the park, playing on the golf course, and catching the annual Christmas parade on Main St. in downtown Greenville. Unfortunately, we were so busy having fun I forgot to take pictures. Here are the few that I captured from the weekend.

While my brother and good friend, Melissa, were here for Thanksgiving day, I capitalized on their manpower and manual labor abilities to take out and set up my Christmas stuff. Our very humble 6ft tall Christmas tree was adorned with all nonbreakable ornaments (see why below), our two nativity sets were put up (one kid-friendly and one not - guess which one is the most popular with the girls), and other various decorations were placed around the house within easy reach for the girls to play with. Thanks to my mom (and Hallmark), we have three decorations that sing and move (one Snoopy and two Frosty the Snowmen) and are very popular with the girls and visitors who come over. Aunt Tallulah Stopped By

Dave's cousin, Tallulah, stopped by the other day on her way through Greenville. She drives all over the east coast and southeast rescuing dogs who are about to be euthanized and taking them to shelters that encourage adoption. She is an amazing woman! We had not seen her in over a year, so this was her first time meeting Ellie. We had a blast! Uncle John's Visit

YAAAAAY! I got to see my brother, by himself, for a whole week! My brother, John, came to visit us the Thursday before Thanksgiving. After a short weekend trip to Pigeon Forge, he spent the rest of the week with us just hanging out, getting caught up, and eating yummy food (it tasted even better because someone else cooked it! Halloween x 2!!!

Halloween was very different this year for multiple reasons. First, I had two kids. One who wanted to be held (Ellie) and one who didn't want to ride in the stroller (Maggie). I got a good workout! Secondly, Maggie finally "got it" this year. She realized that going to houses saying "Trick-or-Treat" got you candy, something she rarely gets to eat. She kept running from house to house saying "Let's go to the next house," and when she would get there she would say, on auto-pilot, "Trick-or-Treat, THANK YOU!" (Even before they gave her the candy!). We had to work on her being patient waiting for other kids to get their candy first and for her not to grab a fistful of candy and to let the person put something in her Elmo bucket. It was a fun night that started with dinner at my friend Kim's house. Her little boy, Ryan, was born on Halloween so it was his birthday party too! Her two boys and her husband dressed up like lions and she had a lion tamer costume on. Too cute! We hit the neighborhood around 6 and were out until almost 8! Ellie was a trooper trying to keep up with her big sister and Dave joined us towards the end to catch some of the action. Enjoy!

Daddy Time!

October 15th was the "official" start of basketball season, which means that weekends become full of games and practices. We can't wait for the first game of the season on November 6th!!! A few weekends ago, we had a full daddy weekend and loved every minute of it! It is so amazing to see how much the girls adore Dave every minute he is home. It is the best feeling in the world!

As some of you may know, two of the assistants at Furman left last year, leaving just Dave and the head coach. One of the new assistants is married and has a little girl named Audrey. Fortunately his wife, Jessica, and I clicked right away and we have had so many wonderful playdates and dinners when the guys have a late practice. We went over to their house for dinner last week and here are some fun pictures from the visit.

Last weekend we had a wonderful trip to Sky Top orchard in N.C. (Asheville area). We had heard so many good things about it, we decided we had to check it out. It was chilly that morning, but I didn't think there would be such a difference when we got to the orchard! When we pulled in, there was a line of probably 50 people waiting for homemade apple donuts and the store was filled with people. It was a madhouse - I am so glad I had Dave there with me to help with both kids, I definitely could not have done it alone! We started out by eating lunch in the back of the van (it was too cold and windy to eat at the picnic tables), then headed out to the orchard to pick some Fuji, Granny Smith, and Golden Delicious apples. Maggie was a big help (see video above!) even though she couldn't quite grasp what we meant by "gently placing" the apples in the basket. So we left that day with full tummies, a bag full of bruised apples, and two tired kiddos (they both had great naps that day!).

Two weeks ago marked Furman's first home football game against the Presbyterian College Blue Hose (unfortunate mascot name, don't you think?). The weather was amazing and Furman ended up blowing out PC - what more could you ask for a Saturday afternoon?

First Day of "School"

So I am a little bit behind on this post considering Maggie's first day of "School" (it is really Parent's Day Out, but we call it school) was the Tuesday after Labor Day. But, better late than never! She attends PDO at a Baptist church in Taylors from 9-2 every Tuesday and Thursday. We had an open house two weeks before the first day so she could meet her teachers and get used to her classroom. It was so fun to see her get so excited about all of the toys, the small chairs and tables, and the toddler-sized sink (she washed her hands about 15 times during the open house). When I dropped her off the first day I honestly thought I would be more emotional, since I have never been away from her for that long of a stretch....but, she just ran right into the room, started playing and didn't look back. I knew she would have a blast and that made it a lot easier. Plus, I get some alone time with Ellie which rarely happens. I know this experience is good for everyone!

Even though I miss Maggie when she is at school, it is really nice for me to get some alone time with Ellie. Since she is so mobile now, it is a lot of fun to scatter toys around the living room and watch her go from one to the next. Even though the official season has not started yet at Furman, Dave is still busy with recruiting visits to campus and individual and team workouts with the players. Any chance we get on weekends to hang out, we love heading downtown to the market and then to Falls Park to let Maggie run around and let Ellie play in the grass. Especially since the weather has been so amazing, we never miss out on a chance to be together outside.

I promise she is not drinking coffee. This was the only cup they had to put the milk in.

I love the times when I get to be with Maggie all by myself (and of course, when I get Ellie to myself too!). Especially now since she is so verbal, we have conversations like we are two girlfriends catching up over a coffee date. One of her favorite things to do (as was mine as a little girl) is washing her kitchen dishes in the big sink. All I do is fill it up with soapy water, give her a sponge or washcloth and we are set for the next 45 minutes. We put on some music, wash dishes, and chat. What else could be better?

When I originally started this blog, the intent was to keep up with it on a pretty consistent basis so friends and family from far away could feel somewhat connected to us, even if it is just through pictures and videos. Obviously, just by looking at the dates from the most recent posts, I have been playing catch up with my updates. In order to get back on track with my original blog plan, I recently decided to deactivate my Facebook account. There are other reasons I did this, but the main one was to eliminate another time-waster from my life. Now of course updating the blog takes a little bit of time to do, but after I update it, I don't spend my time looking at it over and over again. And I feel like the blog serves a positive purpose to those who view it. Facebook just wasn't doing a whole lot for me relationally, so I ditched it and am hoping to get back into writing letters, emails and making phone calls. The blog will serve as my "social network" for now. And I am very happy with that.

Maggie's New Bed

It has officially happened...Maggie is in a "big girl" bed. It all started one day when I was catching up on emails during the girl's nap times, when I heard the sound of small feet come into my room. Wait. Maggie is in her crib. No. She is in our room.

"Hi Maggie," I said.

"Hi Mommy."

"How did you get out of your crib?"

"Hehehe," as she runs out of the room.

She then proceeded to take me into her room to show me how she not only gets out of her crib, but gets back in. Ok, this crib thing isn't working out, plus when I would see her sleeping in there she looked like an animal at the zoo who's cage was too small. For a couple of days, she just slept on the mattress on the floor until we ordered a mattress set for her. So far, except for the obvious (like getting out of bed since she has the freedom to do so), we have had no injuries or crib anxiety. Ellie is now in the crib in the guest room and Maggie is right next door. My mom found the most adorable bed clothes (she of course got two sets since the girls will be sharing a room someday) from Tommy Hilfiger. Love them! And so does Maggie! Yet another first of parenthood and childhood.

Visit To Lexington

It was the last few days before the Furman basketball players (along with every other student) arrived back on campus to start the new school year and Dave and I were trying to think of a trip we could take with the girls before things started getting crazy at work. Hmmmm, who or what is nearby that wouldn't cost us an arm and a leg to go visit? In Winnie the Pooh fashion, we said to ourselves "think, think, think." Ah, hah! After looking at a map and getting directions, we realized we were only 5 1/2 hours from Ben and Kerri (Dave's brother and his wife). Of course, 5 1/2 hours to normal people, but about 6 1/2 to 7 when carting around two kids. No big deal! So, we headed out on a Thursday to visit the Lexington, VA Willsons. Ben was about to start law school at Washington and Lee, while Kerri had just started a job as director of social services at a local nursing home. I was so excited because Dave and I were going to be back in our "College" home state. I miss Virginia so much. The beautiful hills and mountains and especially the changing leaves of the Fall. I was only familiar with Washington and Lee athletics since Sweet Briar played against them in the ODAC conference (let me just mention that I have only negative memories since we pretty much got crushed every time we played them in volleyball and lacrosse). Our visit was so laid back. Our first day there, we hung out in their backyard kicking around the ball and playing with their dog, Tigerlily. Then we headed to the swimming pool, which was about a half mile walk from their house and right across the street from Kerri's work. Then that night, Dave and I went out on the town for a date night at the Southern Inn. I ended up running into one of my old lacrosse teammates who was there visiting her family...crazy. On Saturday, we toured W&L and VMI and saw where Kerri worked. Kerri in action at the nursing home is like nothing I have ever seen. I bet about 9.9999 people out of 10 are uncomfortable in nursing homes, but Kerri is definitely not. She knows every one's name and they definitely know her. She is a jack of all trades at that place and wears all of her hats with such effortless grace. I can tell she is loved there by everyone! That night we stayed up late playing some skill/strategy games and had an absolute blast. The next morning we headed to church and then got back on the road to head home. Thanks for the fun trip Ben and Kerri!

After the Willson wedding in June, the girls and I headed home for a couple of weeks of down time before heading to the Jersey Shore at the end of July. Dave is very busy recruiting during that month, so I take the opportunity to visit my family while Dave is on the road. We were there for almost two weeks so we got some great beach and family time. Some of the highlights included Maggie's first amusement ride, Maggie's first Slurpee, great beach time, my brother and his family visited from Maryland (Maggie had not seen Olivia and Ethan in almost a year and half!), Aunt April finally met Ellie, Cousin beach portraits, and my grandmother's half brother came to visit (she just met him for the first time last year!). Height: 28.3 In (101% - it shows this number when a kid is off the charts)

Weight: 14 lbs 8 oz (15% - I promise, I feed my kid)

Head Circumference: 41.9 cm (25%)

So, we have another long and lean one on our hands! Even though she is skinny, boy can she move. She is constantly barrel rolling, getting her knees into her chest and scooching, and sits up very well. She has all the motivation in the world to get moving with her big sister running around!

Last Reunion...

A LONG time ago, I got together with my good friend Meagan Burnham. She and I were friends in Burlington, her husband coached Football at Elon so that was our special connection. Our other connection was that we were pregnant together - our girls are 5 weeks apart to the day. The last time they were together was almost a year and a half ago, so things were a little bit different. She had another girl in October so there were two toddlers and two infants to keep each other company. Here are some pictures from our visit!

For Easter weekend, Dave and I packed up the girls and Odyssey and headed to Memphis. As we get older it is such a rare occasion to get all of the siblings, spouses and kids together in one city for an extended period of time, so when we heard that EVERYONE was going to be there, we just couldn't pass up this opportunity. Dave, the girls, and I headed to Houston for the Final Four two weeks ago. Unfortunately, Dave was only able to stay a few days, but I was fortunate enough to extend my stay for a while and get some good family time in The Woodlands. Here are some highlights from our visit with Nanny, Pop Pop and Old Nan (my grandmother).

Maggie's 2nd Birthday Party

This past Saturday I had a first...Preparing dinner for 12 adults and 8 toddlers. Wow. Fortunately we had enough food to feed both adults and toddlers and extra food on hand in case somebody didn't want a hamburger or hot dog. The day went without a hitch thanks to Dave cooking the burgers and dogs and my dear friend, Melissa (who drove in from Gainesville, GA just for the occasion) who prepared the side dishes and cleaned up as people made messes (Thanks Aunt Lissa!). Besides eating dinner, the kids enjoyed playing on the golf course out back, swinging on our swing, and digging in the mud (Maggie started that trend) since it had rained briefly before everyone showed up! It was a big mess, but BIG FUN!!!

Megan's Visit!

My very best friend from college, Megan, came to visit Maggie, Ellie and me today. She lives in Charlotte and was so sweet to make the trip to see us and hang out for most of the day. Maggie immediately fell in love with her! Any time she was out of her sight, she was always asking where she was and she wanted to be picked up by her constantly. I also think she showed her every single toy and stuffed animal she had. Megan brought Maggie a book and a bunny pillow pet for her birthday and brought Ellie the most soft and sweet pink blanket that has an "E" monogrammed on it. What a wonderful friend I have! Love you Megan!

Water Table

For Maggie's birthday Dave and I bought her a water table. Maggie LOVES water! She is the kind of kid you have to block off at least 30 minutes for bath time, so this water table is a great way for her to splash and experiment without having to be in the bathtub. Unfortunately, I had her with me when I bought it and she immediately wanted to use it - the problem is that it was cold outside. She certainly couldn't play with it there, so what did I do? Yes, I set it up inside our living room and yes...like an idiot, I added water. I just had too much fun watching HER have fun, so I figured a little wet carpet never hurt anyone (the towels didn't help too much, but oh well!). We put the water table outside before dinner time so it wasn't a struggle to get upstairs to bed. Whew! Fortunately warmer weather is on its way, so we can enjoy it outside...where it belongs!

Before Ellie was born, my mom sent matching ballerina outfits for the two girls and I finally got pictures of the two wearing them together. Every other time I wanted to get pictures, one of the outfits was always dirty, so finally they were both clean and I took advantage of both being clean and both fitting the girls. These aren't the greatest pictures (Maggie had just woken up from a nap), but they are funny.

When Dave's mom cam into town to help with the new baby, she brought lots of goodies, including two moving boxes that she made into a little house for Maggie. She and Maggie decorated it over the next few days and Maggie has had a blast playing in it ever since! She loves to take books that light up in there and play with them. Future Ballerina?

Snow Days!

Usually when the weather people talk about a big snowstorm coming (especially in the south), they are usually referring to maybe 2-3 inches of snow. I usually shrug the winter storm warnings as nothing more than a light dusting that will go away in a day or two. I didn't even go to the grocery store when I heard about this storm because I didn't think it would be that big of a deal. Boy, was I wrong! That winter storm that his us was apparently the worst in over 50 years and it didn't go away in a couple of days, try over a week! The first day of it was fun (pictures below), but after that it was just plain annoying.

Dave's 30th Birthday

Ok, I am a little behind in my posts considering it is February 4th and Dave's birthday was January 7th. Whoops! Dave's brothers and sisters sent us a Rendezvous ribs package for his birthday. If you don't know anything about Memphis barbecue, well, all you need to know is that one word...Rendezvous. Maggie's First Haircut

So after looking like a sea urchin for the last couple of months, I finally decided to get Maggie's hair chopped off into a cute flapper bob! It is SO MUCH EASIER to take care of, wash, comb, dry, etc... Why didn't I do this earlier? And in case you were wondering, my mom kept some of her hair, I couldn't bring myself to keep any. Play Date with Parker and Emma

Just a few days before Christmas, my cousin, his wife and two children (Dan, Kristen, Parker, and Emma) came over to have a little play date with Maggie. Kristen is from Greenville, so they were spending the holiday with her family. Maggie had so much fun around the two kids! Parker was a wonderful friend and Maggie got a little bit of practice with a younger baby in the house (little did we know our best Christmas present was about to arrive!).

Visit to Western

On Monday, Maggie and I headed up to NC where we used to live to visit some friends where I used to teach. It was about a 3 1/2 hour trip, the longest trip I had done with her in the car by myself in a long time. She was definitely ready to get out and run around when we got there. We started off in the front office, then made our way to the teacher's lounge, and finally ended up in my dear friend Mary's room where we visited with some other teachers during her planning period. Here are some of the highlights from the visit.

Halloween

Saturday night Maggie the cat/leopard and I headed out to the neighborhood across the street to get our Trick-or-Treat on! Dave was at a scrimmage just south of Charlotte, so we made sure we got the "good stuff" that Daddy would like to eat. As usual, Maggie was the only girl in the crowd. Overall there were two pumpkins (a little boy and his dad), Cookie Monster, Elmo, and a skeleton complete with white face paint. Maggie was a champ and let me draw "wikers" (writing it as Maggie pronounced it) and a nose on her face. Here are some shots while we waited to head across the street.

Wednesday night Maggie and I headed to our friend's church for a fall festival where kids could wear their Halloween costume. Maggie is going as a cat/leopard this year, including the ears on her headband and a tail attached to her tutu. We did a little experimenting with makeup, which didn't stay on long, but I was able to catch a few pictures of our kitty cat before we went out on the town. All I know is that I can't wait for the Trick-or-Treating to start to get some good candy! Mmmmm!

This past Friday, we met up with a friend of mine and her son at a local pumpkin patch. We definitely picked a busy day as bus loads of elementary students poured in, but of course Maggie loved being around the other kids. So I'm changing the sheets on our bed, Maggie is running from room to room as usual and then suddenly, it gets quiet. We all know that when a toddler is running around and then things get quiet, they are probably doing something they shouldn't. Maggie has tried to get into her baby-doll's cradle before but I usually catch her. This time, I was too late. I caught her in the act of robbing the cradle from her doll. I just can't believe she got in there without hurting herself!

Flower Girl Fashion Show

Maggie's kind Uncle Ben and soon-to-be Aunt Kerri asked Maggie to be a flower girl in their wedding at the end of November. I took Maggie to David's Bridal and found this dress. I knew it was the one immediately because she kept examining and smiling at herself in the mirror and when I went to take it off, a hissy fit ensued. Soooo, I let her put it on again yesterday to try it out and get some pictures. Luckily, no tantrums when taking it off this time.

This past weekend Dave's youngest sister, Lizzie, came to visit us in Greenville. She got in late Friday night only to wake up to a Saturday full of Furman Football and a festival in downtown Greenville. That night we celebrated her birthday early with a homemade red velvet cake (I felt like a true southerner with that accomplishment) and Mayfield ice cream (mmmm!). Sunday we headed to church and then had a lazy afternoon catching up before she had to leave that evening. Here are some of the pictures highlighting the trip. We love you Liz!

I don't know about where you live, but it has still been SO HOT here in SC. It is September 3rd, shouldn't it be at least down in the 80s yet? All I can say is, I am glad Fall is around the corner. We thought we would take advantage of the warm weather and use Maggie's "pool" a couple more times. Dave stayed outside with her while I got a few things done inside the house. I just came outside to take some photos.

GIRL!!! Looks like Dave and I will be expecting our second little girl on January 4th of 2011. I am currently 19 weeks pregnant and am feeling great. I hardly know I am pregnant since I am chasing Maggie around all day! Unfortunately, our scanner is not working right now so I don't have any ultrasound pictures to put up, but once I do, I will post them ASAP. MEMPHIS TRIP

Greetings Friends! Dave, Maggie and I just returned Sunday from vacation in sunny and HOT Memphis. We originally were supposed to go to Florida for vacation with Dave's family, but the oil spill made those plans a little shaky, so a Stay cation was decided instead. Everyone from the family was there (which we all know is so hard to do as we get older and add kiddos to the picture): Drew, his wife Kim, and daughter Drewsie; Ben and his fiance Kerri; David, Maggie, and I; Mary; Lizzie; and of course Allison and Sandy. Here are some highlights from the trip.

Top of the Peabody Hotel in downtown. There are ducks that live on the roof and march down into the lobby every day at 11 to play in the fountain and march back up at 5 to hang out in their "Duck Palace"

JERSEY SHORE VISIT!

After the 4th of July, Maggie and I headed out to the shore to visit my parents and grandmother while Dave hit the road recruiting for basketball. Last year she was too young to take to the beach for extended periods of time, but this year was so fun since she could walk and is not taking naps or eating every 2 hours! She did pretty well on the sand and loved to chase the seagulls (and boys-see below). Here are some pictures highlighting our trip.

I remember seeing pictures of me as a little girl skipping around with my hair bouncing behind me - it just doesn't get any better with little girl's hair than pigtails! So my alarm goes off (hint: my alarm is Maggie talking to herself in her room) this morning and Dave kindly pats me and says he will get Maggie up and bring her into me before he gets ready for work. I roll over in appreciation and get another 5 minutes of shut eye before I hear "Mom?" (When Maggie says mom it comes out like a question). Dave places her on the bed and I realize that although she still has her PJs on, Dave has come up with a new fashion statement for babies. I think it really might catch on if we can get a couple more people on board. Those pictures are at the bottom. The first two pictures are of Maggie's coloring creations. For now they are just squiggly lines and dots, but I sense an artist in the making!

Granny and Papa Visit

Two days after we arrived home from the "Shore" Dave's parents came into town for a visit. Maggie had fun getting so much grandparent time! One of the highlights of their trip was going to the Children's Museum in downtown Greenville. It has something for every kid of every age (including adults - I think we had more fun than Maggie did!)! Here are some pictures from the trip (taken from Papa's iPhone - Thanks Sandy!)

Outside of Grandma Betty's Farm, a toddler-friendly place at the museum with a tree house slide, a kitchen, and a fun garden to plant flowers and carrots.

Maggie's ultimate favorite - the Toddler Lily pond. She could spend hours with her hands under the water fall or playing with the rubber ducks and boats. Needless to say, we always have to change her into dry clothes after this stop.

Spring Lake Visit

Although I don't have our trip to the Jersey Shore very well documented in pictures, I did catch one of Maggie's highlights while visiting Nanny and Pop Pop - SINK BATHS! She had quite a few messy dinners and lunches that required baths afterwards. Both the front house and the garage apartment don't have bath tubs, so we used the sinks which are big and deep, perfect for a bath! I especially loved it because it didn't require me getting on my knees and bending over a tub to get her clean! Maggie and I are heading back to the shore in July while Dave is out on the recruiting trail, there will be plenty of pictures from that, so keep checking!

So I was wandering around Target the other day trying to get out of the 90 degree weather, when I stumbled upon the aisle where baby pools were being sold and a light bulb went off. Let's get a "pool" for Maggie so she can stay cool while she plays outside. I thought what I bought was a pretty nice sized pool for her and maybe a friend to sit in, but when I took it out of the box and blew it up, I realized that Maggie would probably be flying solo. No wonder it was only $5.99. Here are some pictures and a video of our day at the "pool."

A couple of days ago, Maggie had her maiden voyage to Chuck E. Cheese's. The weather had been bad for a couple of days, so my friend Kim and her son Evan headed over there and invited us to join them. The best part, entrance is free! I got a little freaked out when we walked in and both Maggie and I were stamped with the same number. Apparently they do this so random people don't walk out with your child - I would have never thought of that, but I guess the times they are a changin'!

Alumni Lacrosse Game

A couple of weekends ago, I headed back to Sweet Briar to play in the annual Alumni Lacrosse game. Since I was a player this has always been a big to do, bringing back some the best players in SBC's Lacrosse history, especially the women who played and graduated in the mid 80s. With some very creative clock and score management, the "Old Ladies" beat the varsity team 13 - 12. A few of the girls who came back to play were closer to my age, so we were given the task of being the "wheels" while the older players scored all of the goals. Here are a few highlight pictures from the weekend.

These were our Alumni shirts for the game. They really were more for the 80s group, since we aren't considered Cougars until you reach your 40s. The shirt has the Vixen symbol + 20 (years of age added) = picture of a cougar with a pink tongue and pink fingernails!

While I was in Amherst, I was able to catch up with Ann Rucker and her husband, Manly. I did my student teaching with her at Amherst County High School. They are such wonderful people and we had a great time out on the town!
